I was born in Helsinki, Finland but I have been an Albertan all of my life. In addition to my photography and design work, I am a librarian and scholar. I hold degrees in Comparative Literature, Library and Information Studies, and Communications and Technology.
I’ve been taking pictures all my life, but my path to a dedicated photography practice began as an extension for supporting my writing. Photography has since become a central part of my life that stands on its own in my desire to capture the many contrasting aspects of the world. In addition to art photography, I am a paid freelance photographer, focusing on portraiture, event photography, and corporate work (products, services and spaces).
My approach is instinctual. I allow the light, the subject, and the moment to guide me. I believe in capturing real emotion that glimmers in the eyes that is unique in each of us.
My work in graphic design developed at the intersection of where my photography and academic experience connect. I have invested in learning the tools and concepts needed to produce professional-level designs for use in corporate and educational contexts. I have experience in brand development, document layout, promotion design and 3D modelling. I am comfortable producing work for both digital and print.
